New OHS Legislation
Wednesday, 15 June 2011
These two Bills represent the culmination of the OHS Harmonisation process that has been under negotiation for several years. The Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Bill 2011 amends the OHS Act 2000 in particular adding the defined concept of "reasonable practicability" and adding the concept of "due diligence" (defined) to the duties of the officers of a corporation that officers.
The Work Health and Safety Bill 2011 replaces the OHS Act 2000 but includes most of the principles of the original Act together with the additions made by the Occupational Health and Safety Amendment Act 2011 described above.
Both Acts can be found in the WorkCover reference section of the HEMSmart OHS
